Even if your kids are not ready to be there themselves. The Israelites were not ready to have a relationship with God like Moses, but Moses' acts were all written for the people of Israel to have a relationship with God like that at a later date when they were ready.
"On the third day, when morning came, there was thunder and lightning, a thick cloud on the mountain, and a loud trumpet sound, so that all the people in the camp shuddered. Then Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain. Mount Sinai was completely enveloped in smoke because the Lord came down on it in fire. It's smoke went up like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain shook violently. As the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke and God answered Him in the thunder. The Lord came down on Mount Sinai, at the top of the mountain. Then the Lord summoned Moses to the top of the mountain, and he went up. The Lord directed Moses,' Go down and warn the people not to break through to see the Lord; otherwise many of them will die. Even the priests who come near the Lord must first purify themselves or the Lord will break out in anger against them." Exodus 19:16-20
Now, for Israel's Reactions:
All the people witnessed the thunder and lightning, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain surrounded by smoke. When people saw it they trembled and stood at a distance. 'You speak to us, and we will listen,' they said to Moses,' but don't let God speak to us, or we will die.' Moses responded to the people, 'Don't be afraid, for God has come to test you, so that you will fear Him and will not sin.' And the people remained standing at a distance as Moses approached the thick darkness where God was." Exodus 20:18-20
Everyone has a capacity for holding God's glory inside us depending on our maturity. But by no means are we supposed to hide our light when our kids are not yet where we are in walking with Jesus Christ.
" No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, but rather on a lamp stand and it gives light to all who are in the house."Matthew 5:15. Invite His glory into your house! Don't worry about what your kids thoughts are because the same God whose glory and power it belongs to anyway will be there to help deal with whatever thoughts your kids may be having about God's glory. Let God come in and be Himself: whether that results in someone hearing his whispers that bring peace beyond understanding or that results in someone receiving healing in your living room. I love the song by Brandon Lake that says " This is a house of Miracles" and the complete personal surrender and attentive openness to God within a household.
Lord, I pray that all who read this are willing to take their cross and follow You to be "glory-carriers" in their households. Give them heavenly wisdom as to what to show their children about You. Lord be with them and activate them as servants for You within their own household. In the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
